Friends

Do you make friends easily? Are you an introvert like me? Do you believe in quantity or quality when thinking about the topic of friends? Do you talk or message your friends often?

Although those topics are important to keep in mind, the life you live also contributes to making friends.

I for example have friends in three different countries. I still have friends from when I was in Kindergarten when I lived in Brazil as well as friends from grade school, college and work from when I lived in New York. I loved them all and will be friends with them forever.

But keeping conversations up to date is a challenge. Not only that but my life has changed so much and so have my friend’s life that staying in touch is just a simple “hello, how are you?” or meme messages!

Since moving to Greece, making friends has been fairly easy but the language isn’t always easy. I understand a lot but speaking in complex sentences can be difficult at times. They all speak English but I don’t want them to speak English with me, I want to learn their language!

I have friends in my life that will be my friends forever. I cherish their friendship and their loyalty - they know who they are ❤️ But often times I miss having a friend that is physically there, that lives close by, that says “Yes!“ to coffee or shopping at any time, that messages everyday just to say hello or good morning, the one that thinks exactly like me, has no judgements, and shares the same ideas. The one who is searching for a wellness life like me and wants to make friendship memories together. They say it gets harder to make friends when you get older. Making yourself available is key. I’m a shy person and it’s hard to put myself out there all the time. But I stay true to myself, who I really am, and what I like. Sooner or later I’ll find my way in the friends world - or here in Greece.

To my friends all over the world, I appreciate you and your friendship. I wished we lived near and could grow older together like in my favorite show, Sweet Magnolias“. Those three characters are inseparable! But even though we are far, you make part of my story and I’m thankful to have met and know you. I love you.

And for my future friends, I’m a loyal, caring, shy but funny friend who will always be there to make you smile. I love reading, fashion, all things wellness, the holidays, coffee and wine! I’m also a wife and a mom of two kids so girls happy hour is a must! So let’s be friends! I’m so excited to meet you!
